A powerful Gender Reconciliation workshop took place on 20-22 June, hosted by Cornerstone Institute in Salt River, Cape Town. Eighteen women and men from diverse backgrounds came together and participated in the challenging, brave work of reflecting on gender conditioning and injustice in their own lives and journeys. Significant healing took place for many participants, particularly within each gender group, including across faultlines of race.

One male participant said afterwards “I’ve seen other help in the past, which were 3 months or 6 months long, and found no healing. This workshop was a great help”.

A female participant said that the workshop provided “a renewed hope for allyship between privileged and oppressed people, particularly between white and black women”.

Another female participant said: “I felt that I found more of my voice, yet in a new way… I have learned how to voice my oppressions and frustrations with grace, logic, and understanding”.

Many thanks and much love to the facilitation team, Mandy Antzoylatos, Laurie Gaum, Madoda Gcwadi and Antonia Porter.
